So, you say your not a crafter? I proved many people wrong this weekend at the Victoria Sewing and Craft Show.
We started out with a plain manilla cardstock measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. In this example I am using background paper from a Crafty Secrets CD. Next we took a piece of vintage sheet music and tore around the edges to give it a stunning vintage look.
Sandy provided us with some stickers, ribbon, craft scraps ,cotton twill designs along with some fantastic peel offs, and voila we came up with a card fit for a queen!
In this case I used my decal cut scissors (you know the ones I mean, fiskars sell sets of these, yours are probably hiding in a drawer somewhere) I took my distress ink (vintage photo, or any other sepia coloured ink) and inked all the edges. I like the look of this on everything, so I do all the layers, even the manilla cardstock! The little bird image is raised ever so slightly with pop dots, gives it a little more dimension. Given all these wonderful images, who couldn't come up with something beautiful? Everyone was wowed by this simple card, see what you come up with. If your anywhere around Abbotsford on March22 and 23rd visit the Crafty Secrets booth their and create your own one of a kind card. Thanks Sandy, had a great weekend crafting with you and catching up, Marilyn.

Gift Card Envelopes
This month Sandi has us making gift card envelopes for "Christmas in the Bank". This is a great idea, who doesn't have relatives and friends living out of town or difficult to buy for? I chose a template from google for my giftcard. It's perfect because you can also fit ATC's in them! It's a winged design with four flaps. Cut template, score and decorate, what could be easier? If you want to join in on the fun, click on the button in my sidebar. The tag I used is available for free from, Ephemera'sGarden.
There is no link for the template, just google gift card template, click images and it will be pictured!

Gluebook or Journal?
Gluebook or journal? Not quite sure what I am going for here. I spent the entire day playing with techniques and trims and came up with this cover for my book. When I got up in the morning, one look outside at the wind and rain, and out came the paints and glue.
I printed the bird image (from Megan Berry) on the sheet music. Then using a tombow marker and a wet brush, I picked up some colour to outline the bird. Then I created a mute wash to the sheet music.
The crown was the piece d'resistance, I had found it months ago, on sale at Michael's. The "S" flashcard is from Tim Holtz, the bingo card from Iralamijima on Etsy. Lots of Tulle, lace, pearls and die cuts embellish the cover. I also got to use some washi tape! The bird itself has a few coats of rock candy stickles and white glitter. I had a few difficulties with making this, but in the end, everything worked out. (The glue bled through on the bird wing, thus the rose, used some pink glitter on the bird itself, and didn't like the effect, so in the process of removing it I ruined the image, and had to glue on another one.) The joy of working on projects like this, there is always a way to cover up mistakes! I am really in the pink again...such a soothing, girly colour. Thanks for stopping by, Marilyn.

Happy Valentines Ladies!
Happy Valentines Ladies!
I couldn't resist using this sweet image of kittens for a Valentine's card. I'm glad that I picked up all these doily hearts last year after V day, they are just too expensive before Valentines.
Martha makes the best heart punches. A little worn lipstick distress ink, some red, pink and platinum stickles and bam!
Hope everyone has a sweet pink and red Valentine's day!
Marilyn.

Christmas Tags
Sometimes, no matter what you do, you can't seem to get your picture to load properly! This is so frustrating!!! These are just a few of the tags that I made for, "Christmas in the Bank" at Sandi's blog, Maximum Embellishment. The idea is to create a Christmas item each month, so that when the big day arrives, you will be organized and stress free! Thanks for the idea Sandi.

Owl Be Your Friend
When I was on Pinterest today I came across this image of owls.
I knew that my daughter Katie would love them!
We have looked at the Valentines available in stores over the past few weeks, slim pickins, especially when your a University graduate and want to impress your friends.
Katie is known for her love of owls, so her friends won't be disappointed when they see these.
I don't know what I'll do when Valentines is over, I love making holiday crafts and cards.
I am working on some Valentines for family and friends tonight. Come back tomorrow for the end results. Thanks for stopping by, Marilyn.

Vintage Valentines #4
He would climb the highest peak for his valentine. Such a sweet boy, isn't he? I was dying to use this green paper on a project, goes well with the pink and red.
I am mounting all these posie's on this wrapping paper I purchased, they compliment it beautifully. I am just finishing up my fifth one.
I bought a box of candy for valentines, won't eat the candy, just wanted the little heart shape box. I am hoping they will go on sale after the 14th for half price, so I can scoop some more.
Pictures of that will follow soon, Marilyn.
